It is often useful to connect computers together so that they can exchange information and resources - web pages, emails, files, or shared hardware devices such as printers. A group of connected computers and other devices is called a network.

Networks come in all sizes, from a small home network of a few computers (like the one shown) to the vast expanse of the world's biggest network, the Internet. But they all work in a similar way.
