This chapter covers the different ways computers store data, everything from memory to disk drives to cloud storage.

Different types of storage have different characteristics, for example how much it costs (per Gigabyte), how quickly data can be accessed, and whether the information is lost when the computer is switched off. Most computers are designed to use several different types of storage to balance out these features.

Different types of storage are traditionally grouped into primary, secondary and tertiary storage, but some modern technologies don't fit neatly into these categories.
